This book was been structured for the clinical application of acupuncture and consists of ten chapters, which are as follows: infectious diseases, parasitic infestations, internal medicine, surgical applications, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatric, ophthalmic, E.N.T. disorders, oral diseases, and dermatitis. Within these chapters are about 150 other kinds of common clinical presentations, including high fever, arrhythmia, hypertension, common cold, bronchitis, abdominal pain, neck pain, headache, sciatica, irregular menstruation, infertility, bronchial-asthma in children, infantile diarrhea, eczema, urticaria, stye, glaucoma, deafness, toothache, smoking cessation, and weight loss. All of the diseases are listed by their western medicine disease names and most are explained in both western medical and TCM theories. Every chapter of this book is consistent with each other in its simple and clear style and format. Each section consists of an introduction to the pathology, the two-points selected, detailed needle techniques, treatment efficacy, case studies, and discussion.
There is a special emphasis in this book on the acupuncture methods and needle techniques. When applying these treatments in practice, the practitioner should follow the instructions step by step and repeat the recommended methods and techniques each time. In the end, the practitioner and patient should notice the same results mentioned in the book.
About the Author
Dr. Decheng Chen is a Licensed Acupuncturist, with a Ph.D. in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He also holds a Traditional Medical Degree in China. In the United States, he holds an acupuncture license in New York, New Jersey and California. Currently, he practices in New York City. Dr. Chen was also a professor at the New York college of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Dr. Decheng Chen graduated and received his Bachelor and Masters degrees from Changchun University of TCM in China and his Ph.D from Nanjing University of TCM in China. He studied under the famous professor, Dr. Qiu Maoliang, and learned acupuncture from him for three years. Before coming to the United States, he worked as a professor in The Acupuncture Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Science in Beijing. He has had more than 20 years of clinical and teaching experience in China, Russia, Egypt, Dubai, U.A.E. and the United States.
Some of his published works include: (1) Simplified Review for National Examinations in Acupuncture and Clean Needle Technique, 2003. (2) The Chinese Single Point Acupuncture and Moxibustion. (3) The Chinese Double Points Acupuncture and Moxibustion. (4) The Chinese Multiple Points Acupuncture and Moxibustion. (5) The Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion for Beauty and Anti-aging. (6) Hand and Foot Therapy of Acupuncture and Moxibustion. In all, he has published 12 books, a DVD, more than 80 articles on Chinese Medicine, and has received numerous honors and recognitions for his work.
He has undertaken the following research: (1) A study on Single Point Therapy. (2) Clinical and Experimental Studies in the Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus with Acupuncture. (3) Clinical and Experimental Studies of Chronic Atrophic Gastritis Treated with Acupuncture and Moxibustion. All of them received much recognition and awards from the government in China and the US.
